…I love the quietness of an interesting plain line, and hope to express that sort of austere stillness and simple spare beauty… my current work has come about while observing spider webs in the garden: admiring the delicate precarious balance, fine translucent linework, and the powerful geometry of their infinitely small, fragile shapes — which bring to mind shapes infinitely immense as constellations of stars in the night sky. I am also very interested in the aspect of empty space, and in the way an absence becomes a tangible presence. The preference for gentle tones of whites, greys, atmospheric blues, and blacks found in Amish and Shaker crafts, also informs my aesthetic.
